There was a "cult" element to them, you were either in the know or you weren't. There was very little in between.Joshua Blevins Peckhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04675067672065084992noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13854278.post-50180569670182045652011-10-21T15:39:47.494-07:002011-10-21T15:39:47.494-07:00oh, by the way...you talking about your zines make...oh, by the way...you talking about your zines make me miss the lo-tech, no-tech 90s! ah!hidden staircasenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13854278.post-81545495367473854702011-10-21T14:38:02.997-07:002011-10-21T14:38:02.997-07:00well your faruq beard was memorable. street cred, ...well your faruq beard was memorable. street cred, ya! i remember esau too but not the details...what issue was it?!! i will have to search it out on my bookshelf.hidden staircasenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13854278.post-5801992974068248722011-10-20T09:40:58.771-07:002011-10-20T09:40:58.771-07:00Staircase: You win the CineRobot street cred award...Staircase: You win the CineRobot street cred award for throwing out a reference to Faruq! Most won't have the foggiest what you are talking about, but yes, Faruq was a made up cult-leader I portrayed myself in the world of zines in the mid to late 1990s.

I also pretended to be the cult-leader Esau Benjamin in a prank I pulled on a small town newspaper in the mid 1990s that created a storm of controversy in that town--the police, Oklahoma Highway Patrol and even the texas rangers got involved! But, that's another story altogether best read about in an old issue of Unpaved Road zine.Joshua Blevins Peckhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04675067672065084992noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13854278.post-29271098972040135232011-10-20T09:33:43.803-07:002011-10-20T09:33:43.803-07:00wasn't your faruq persona a cult leader? hahah...wasn't your faruq persona a cult leader? hahahahidden staircasenoreply@blogger.com
